I am Admiral Sanders, a British nobleman living in Westminster, a region of London. Recently, my father has passed away at 61, and therefore I have inherited his farming land in Kent, Essex, and Suffolk. My family has owned this land for numerous generations going back hundreds of years, even before the Acts of Union in 1707. Furthermore, I have increased land by buying land from private farmers.
On the other hand, I contribute to the great city of London at the Parliament, the most powerful government body of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, as a member of the House of Lords. The parliament, made up of multiple nobleman, argue and make decisions on labour, the Industrial Revolution, class structure, railroad standards, diplomatic relations, war, and more ideas. The city itself is very busy, but also dirty, with unsanitary roads, buildings, and people. The streets often flood and it is difficult to travel; small animals scamper throughout the city. Constant smoke flows out of busy factories, causing the skies to turn a dark grey. Useless peasants are begging for some shillings, which I always refuse. Why can't they just find a job?
I myself believe that all of these Enlightenment ideas are absurd and plain silly. People are not born with equal rights. Why should a worthless farmer have the same voting power as me, a wealthy landowner? A farmer is only good for growing crops and raising livestock, but I am able to contribute to major changes in the United Kingdom. It is obvious that the farmer cannot make the correct decisions for society that I am able to make.
Also, the growing middle class is terrible to the country as a whole. It intimidates the wealthy and endangers the power of the upper class. Only the wealthy are to lead the industries. The middle class should have no power like the peasants have. There is no room for the middle class, and the United Kingdom would run perfectly fine without them. If the past system of dividing classes has succeeded, then why should this system change? This "middle class" must be disbanded before they cause any further harm to cities and the country.
Unfortunately, with the Industrial Revolution, many peasant farmers are moving away to go to the cities. I do not agree with this move, as there are less labourers on my land and so landowners are not making as much money as they could have with the same amount of farmers as they had before. Hopefully this movement will stop. I have even allowed my farmers to become tenant farmers and tried new farming methods, but with technological advancements such as the seed drill and cotton gin, more farmers are able to leave.
Dear Noblemen Admiral Sanders,
ReplyDeletePlease try to introduce new ideas and laws in Parliament that could give farmers more power against entrepreneurs that own their land in their enclosures. This would benefit many farmers who are under the rule of wealthy landowners and can't help themselves. Please consider my request.
