Candle Shop owner#1

Dear Diary,
My Name is Arthur Kirkland, I have Owned my candle shop, The morning light, for 15 years. My father owned it before me. My oldest son Alfred, is going to take over when I'm gone.
Today was a hard day at work! I am so glad to live to the ripe old age of forty! My sons have done an excellent job tending to the shop whilst I delivered some candles to Ms.Plum next door. Her tradeswoman sister was busy in South America. Can you believe it?  I have seen such interesting candles from that part of the world thanks to her. On another note, My grandsons are coming from the city to visit. The train brings them so quickly from many kilometers away. The railroad is such a nice addition to this small town, bringing jobs, money and tourism. In fact,  several crates of my family's candles will be on that train tomorrow. They will ride to London along with My eldest son. I am so very proud of him.
Meanwhile, I have to deal with those pompous Nobles who think themselves higher than everyone else, and the filthy beggars always at my door. They're as different as night and day. I'll never let a girl from a class lower than mine marry one of my sons.

  1. As a nobleman myself, I also have to deal with beggars and peasants and so agree with your opinion. Although I have little respect for the middle class, I am impressed by your work and family at the candle shop and the visiting grandsons. I understand the labour done by the middle class and support your candle shop.

  2. As an exporter, I too experience the beggars just like you and the nobleman. Best wishes to your candle shop, but it may be hard to keep up with the new factories.
