Dear Diary,
This is Arthur Kirkland again, with news! My second oldest son got engaged Last week! I am very exited! Her dowry is quite large, hopefully enough to pay for the wedding. Five days ago was the eighth birthday of my grandson, Peter. Fortunately, thanks to the Mines act, It is illegal for him to work in a mine like his older brothers, Jacob and John. They too, were released from work at the ages of 10 and 12 respectively. A friend of my wife's was forced to free her slaves a little while ago. I, personally, am quite glad. I hated that woman, but quite liked her forced consorts. Yesterday, One of my friends from Prussia (I met him at a pub one night, and we bonded very quickly) came by bearing good news. In his thick, Germanic accent, he excitedly told me about a thing called The Communist manifesto, how it revealed the true form of the so called industrial revolution. How it only made the class separation more distinct, and how the workers of the lower class were treated worse than before. I told him about my boys, and how they used to work in a factory before the mine. He was horrified, and stated that that was exactly what he was talking about.
I don't want to be in such a radical revolution, it may damage my work and my family...Though... Should I join?
You should join the revolution, It is time for a change. I am also considering joining the revolution.
