I've gotten used to the poor people in the city, but the pollution still horrendous. Well, my trip to India was amazing. I saw many different cloths and spices and other items to trade for. They were new and different and very interesting. However, the best part was the profits. The profits were large, and I could not be more pleased by the money I am making being an exporter. Some people think the industrialization here in England is bad and no good. I would have to disagree; everything has been going wonderfully, and I keep getting richer.
As industrialization spreads, it has actually been easier for me to do my trading in other countries. The small regions of industrialization aren't much help, but as other countries like Belgium and Germany start to become industrialized, I can trade more efficiently using their transportation, such as railways, for quicker trading. It's saving me a ton of money!
However, the recent reforms are hardly helpful to me. I am furious. Personally, I believe laissez faire is the only way to run the economy. In addition, that means I am a supporter of the ideas of Adam Smith. The Wealth of Nations is a wonderful book that describes just what should be in place: a free market free from government regulations. Capitalism is a very effective system; the poor were destined to be poor, and it allows people to invest in my company. As Thomas Malthus said, wars kill off the extra people; they would have been poor anyway. Then, there are people who believe the opposite like Karl Mark and Friedrich Engels and socialists. Socialists want the government to be involved in economic affairs, and that is just outrages. People making rules about the hours and ages people can work are horrible; it makes labor more expensive! Karl Marx, Engels, and other Marxists claim that communism is inevitable, that eventually society will be classless and everyone will only take what they need. That's just absurd! I know that it will never happen, but these fools just don't give up on the idea. I work hard so I get more money; that;s the way it should be. The ideas in The Communist Manifesto are all just ridiculous; everything is the way it should be. Some people are just more successful than others.
