Hi my name is Elizabeth, I currently live in London England with my brother Thomas, and my two parents who have been married for 10 years. I'm almost 13 and my time is coming where I have to find a husband to spend the rest of my life with, My mother says that men will be lining up for me because of my long golden blonde hair, and my crystal blue eyes. I smile to her with gratitude, but having a husband is a big step in my life, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to take it. They have a love that is only described in fairy tales, they inspire me to find a husband who will treat me well and respect me just like my father dies to my mother. We have lived in the city as long as I can remember because ,y father is book printer he doesn't make much but he makes just enough to support our family. Recently, my brother just left for the University to study law; leaving me with my two parents. My mother is a strong-headed women, and believes that education can benefit all people. So, lucky for me I got an experience most girls my age would never aspire to... to learn.
Something strange is happening in our city people are calling it Industrialization, and my mother says that this is a good thing for our city, by something in my gut is making me hesitant to this new change. Since we live in the city this is where most of the changes are happening workers are using water power and coal to fuel these massive machines that are supposedly used to speed up the production process of our necessitates. Also, many workers are digging in the ground searching for natural resources such as iron ore to help construct machines, tools, and buildings. The transportation has also improved we are using rivers for transportation, and creating harbors for in coming merchant ships. From what my mother taught me about our country history due to our country not fighting in any wars on our territory, and having a remarkable military it gave us many advantages during our present time. out of the numerous inventions created my favourite was the shuttle made by the mechanist, John Kay. It was a large machine that used yarn and weaved it into clothing. I enjoy watching it go back and forth numerous times. This invention increased the amount of clothing made so a dress that was usually 100 francs was now only 50. So, the price went down because the machines could make so many of them.
Even thought my family and I are only in the middle class we still love our food. Live stock breeders increased their sheep meat, and only used the best sheep to breed. So, the meat was fresh and delicious and the meat supply increased throughout our city. Now, since I live in the city everyone walks every where, but sometimes my father needs to travel for work, and he described to us the new improvements on the road. They used to be only made form mud, but now they are using stones, and crushed rocks. I hope to see the new roads one day. I live in the middle class,, which is something I was born into, but recently our conditions were up lifting the social discrimination was not as intense.
